Jackie Chan has led a long and lucrative career in Hollywood and throughout the world, becoming one of the biggest action stars in history. For all the hard work he’s done, he has accumulated quite a fortune. However, his fortune is his achievement alone. He has stated that when the time comes, he will not be passing it on to his son, Jaycee.

Chan’s career has spanned over six decades. He started acting at just five years old, when he appeared in multiple films that were quite popular in China. As he grew up, he applied his martial arts and acrobatic skills by working as a stunt double and extra, notably in Bruce Lee‘s Fist of Fury (1972). He then starred in his first Hollywood film as the lead in The Big Brawl (1980), but got his real break in Rumble in the Bronx (1995).

His rise in fame among North American audiences grew and strengthened during the 2000s. During this time, he also released 20 albums and secured a successful singing career in Hong Kong and Asia. Chan eventually added multiple production companies to his list of accomplishments, and by 2016, Forbes had listed him as the second-highest-paid actor in the world. His current net worth is estimated at $400 million.

His son will not receive a penny of his wealth

After he married Taiwanese actress Joan Lin, Chan and Lin gave birth to a son, Jaycee, in 1982. In 1999, Chan engaged in an extramarital affair with a beauty queen 19 years younger than himself who gave birth to his estranged daughter, Etta Mg Chok Lam. She is not a part of her father’s life, and it seems that even Jaycee will receive nothing when Chan passes away.

In the past, Chan has revealed that he has no intention of leaving any of his wealth to his son. Instead, he will be donating it all to charity following his death. Chan believes that “If [Jaycee] is capable, he can make his own money. If he is not, then he will just be wasting my money.” Jaycee is now 40 years old and followed in his parents’ footsteps, establishing an acting and singing career in Hong Kong.

Chan and Jaycee have had a difficult relationship

Chan and Jaycee have had a tumultuous father-son relationship. One of the biggest hardships they had to endure was back in 2014, when Jaycee was arrested and sent to jail for possession of a substance. At the time, Chan was serving as an anti-substance advocate and was overwhelmingly disappointed in his son. At the time, he wrote on his website, “When I first heard the news, I was absolutely enraged. As a public figure, I feel very ashamed; as his dad, I’m very sad and disappointed. But the person who feels heartbroken the most is his mom.”

However, he is still Jaycee’s father, and reminded his son that he did not have to face those hardships alone. “I would like to take this opportunity and say to Jaycee: you’ve done something wrong and you have to be responsible for the consequences. I’m your dad and I’ll always be with you. We will face the road ahead of us together.” He admitted he was partially to blame, saying, “I should also take some of this responsibility because as his dad, I didn’t teach him well.”
